The study was carried out to evaluate the soil fertility with respect to available calcium status in red and yellow soils of Sakti block in Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. Grid based surface (0-15 cm depth) soil samples were collected using global positioning system (GPS) from 130 villages of Sakti block consisting of red and yellow soils. The soil samples were analyzed for calcium. The soils were high in available calcium content. The status of available calcium varied from 224 to 8960 kg ha-1 with a mean value of 5037 kg ha-1. 97.31 per cent and 2.68 per cent soil samples from the study area were classified as high and low fertility class, respectively.Keywords

The study was carried out for evaluation of soil fertility with respect to available sulphur status and its relationship with important physico-chemical characteristics in red and yellow soil of Dabhra block under Janjgir district of Chhattisgarh during 2013-14. Grid based surface (0-15 cm depth) soil samples were collected using global positioning system (GPS) from 126 villages from every 10 ha land area. The soil result revealed that pH varied from 4.1 - 8.4 (mean 5.7) and indicated that soils were found to be acidic to slightly alkaline in reaction. The electrical conductivity (EC) varied from 0.01 to 0.97dS m-1 with a mean value of 0.16 dS m-1 at 25°C of the Dabhra block. The total salt content of these soils, expressed as EC, were categorized as <0.1, 0.1 to 0.2, 0.2 to 0.3 and >0.3 dSm-1. The soil ranged from 0.01-1.3 with a mean value of organic carbon 0.57 per cent, about 52.66 per cent soil of this block came under medium, 31.75 per cent sample under low and only 14.29 per cent sample had high range of fertility group. The soil was high in available S content. It ranged from 7.28 to 89.6 kg ha-1 with an average of 35.02 kg ha-1. The available S in more than 44.37 per cent soil sample was classified as high, 21.89 per cent sample under medium and 33.72 per cent sample in low fertility class under fertility group. The correlation between available S and soil properties showed negative significant correlation with pH and positive significant correlation with OC.Keywords

The grid based surface (0-25 cm depth) one hundred ninety eight soil samples from four blocks viz., Dharsiwa (54), Abhanpur (48), Tilda (54) and Arang (42) of Raipur districts, (C.G) were collected using global positioning system (GPS) and were analyzed to assess the status of available sulphur (S) and their relationship with some physico-chemical properties of soil. Results revealed that the available S varied from 16.24 to 80.24 kg ha-1 with an average of 39.90 kg ha-1 in Dharsiwa block. At Abhanpur, the available S varied from 12.07 to 79.80 kg ha-1 with an average of 43.94 kg ha-1. At Tilda, available S varied from 8.68 to 97.22 kg ha-1 with an average of 41.59 kg ha-1 and similarly in Arang block it ranged from 8.96-98.84 kg ha-1 with an mean value of 38.83 kg ha-1. Among the four blocks the available sulphur status in soil decreased gradually from Abhanpur followed by in Tilda, Dharsiwa and lowest status was found in Arang block. Amongst the soil properties, pH showed negative correlation while organic carbon showed positive correlation (r = 0.091) with available S status in soil at Raipur. Soil nutrient index of the Raipur was to be found categorized under high fertility classes for available sulphur.Keywords

The idea of wide area surveillance (WAS) is to develop and utilize sensors which give continuous views of expansive areas. The traditional camera/optical/acoustic methods can only monitor small area, while the WAS system can monitor an area several thousand times larger. WAS is usually provided by airborne/satellite-borne cameras which cover a wide swath of area. It was primarily used in the US as military surveillance technology for safeguarding the homeland. WAS technology is slowly making its way from the battlefields into the Police/Coast Guard Departments in all countries.References
